Earth's Seven Continents


The pictures from the satellite prove that the earth's surface approximately 70% is covered with oceans. The remaining 30-29% of the earth's surface is covered by land. The earth's land is divided into seven parts. Each part of the land is known as a continent. Hence there are seven continents in the world.

World's 7 Continents 

1) Asia
Asia is the biggest mainland. It has the greatest land territory and the world's greatest populace. This implies the vast majority live on the Asian landmass. Asia is made up of 48 countries. Some of the largest countries in the world by area are located in Asia. The world’s biggest country, Russia. The Maldives, a small island country is Asia’s smallest country, The top five countries with the largest population in Asia, arranged from largest to smallest, are China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh.

2) Africa
Africa is the mainland that has the most nations. There are 54 nations on the African landmass. As the most ancient human fossils, for example, skeletons and skulls have been found in Africa. 15% of the world's total population lives in Africa. Algeria is the biggest country on the continent. Lagos in Nigeria is the biggest city in Africa.

3) North America
North America is the third largest continent in size and the fourth largest when we consider the population. The North American continent houses 23 countries. The continent is located in the Northern Hemisphere and the Western Hemisphere.
Largest Country: Canada. Largest City: Mexico City, which is the capital city of Mexico 

4) South America
There are 12 countries in South America. The largest Country is Brazil. The country is covering more than half the continent's landmass.  The largest city in South America in Sao Paolo in Brazil. 

5) Antarctica
According to size, Antarctica is the fifth-largest continent of the earth. Antarctica remains ice covered all the time. The continent is covered by the Southern Ocean. Antarctica is an icy desert, therefore very few people especially researchers live there. Very few species of animals such as seals, whales, and penguins are found. 

6) Europe
Europe is the second smallest continent in size but the third largest in population. The continent has 50 countries. The continent is located completely in the northern hemisphere. The largest European countries are Russia, Ukraine, and France. Moscow is the largest city in Europe.

7) Australia/Oceania
Oceania is in a continent consisting of 14 countries and includes the Pacific islands and Australia. Since most of the continent is covered by Australia. Therefore, people often call the Australia continent.  Oceania's most populous city is Sydney. New Zealand is the second-largest economy after Australia on the continent.
